INSTALLATION METHOD
All our customers are expected to work with a professional, experienced and insured installer of their choice. A glue and nail installation method is recommended for optimal durability and performance. Proper installation begins with acclimation. Before installation, wood flooring must adjust to the environment to prevent warping, cupping, or gaps.
Hardwood flooring has a living quality that interacts dynamically with light, creating a unique ambiance throughout the day. Take care to consider the following when making your finish selection:
NATURAL LIGHT: Sunlight highlights the wood's true character, revealing rich grain patterns and authentic tones.
COOL LIGHTING: Under cooler, bluish light, wood may appear more muted, with ashier or subdued undertones becoming more prominent.
WARM LIGHTING: In warm, yellow-toned light, wood surfaces take on a cozier, richer glow, enhancing golden and reddish hues.Over time, exposure to light can subtly shift the wood’s tone, adding to its evolving beauty.
Getting the right amount of hardwood flooring is essential for a smooth installation process and a stunning finished look. Follow these simple steps to calculate how much flooring you’ll need, ensuring you have enough material for every corner of your space:
1. MEASURE YOUR SPACE
Start by measuring the length and width of the room (or rooms) where the flooring will be installed. Multiply these two numbers to find the total square footage, or use our coverage calculator. For irregularly shaped rooms, break the space into smaller rectangles, calculate the square footage for each, and add them together.
2. ACCOUNT FOR A WASTE FACTOR
When ordering hardwood flooring, it’s important to include extra material to account for cuts, mistakes, and selective installation. The waste factor you choose depends on the look you want:
Add 15% Waste for a More Natural Look
If you want your floor to showcase the natural character of the wood, like knots, color variations, and grain patterns, add 15% to your total square footage. This allows you to set aside pieces with extreme variations while keeping plenty of options for a cohesive appearance.
Add 20% Waste for a Cleaner, More Uniform Look
If you prefer flooring with fewer visible imperfections or more uniform color and texture, add 20% to your total square footage. This gives you flexibility to select only the most consistent boards for your space.
Choosing the right floor is about more than just a swatch—it’s about seeing, feeling, and living with it in your space. Our sample box includes all six of our signature finishes, each crafted in a 5-inch width and measuring 10 inches long, giving you a true sense of their texture, tone, and quality. Flip each sample over to find its respective finish details and characteristics labeled on the reverse side.
Place the samples against your walls, pair them with your furniture, and watch how they shift with the light throughout the day. With these substantial samples and expert resources in hand, you can confidently select the finish that feels like home.
To help guide your decision, the sample box also includes an additional information packet with flooring width templates, installation guidance, care and maintenance tips, and more.

COMMITMENT
The Archive Collection is crafted with care to celebrate the natural character and lasting quality of real wood. Each board is hand-inspected for integrity—not uniformity—so natural variation is to be expected and embraced. For a more consistent look, we recommend ordering additional material for greater flexibility during installation.
Installation and delivery coordination are the responsibility of the client. We suggest working with a licensed, experienced professional and referring to the National Wood Flooring Association’s (NWFA) guidelines for best practices.
We’re happy to address any visible defects prior to installation. Installed material cannot be replaced, and we are not responsible for damage caused by improper installation, environmental exposure, or general misuse.
